Herwa Community Development Initiative (Herwa CDI), will start a new project funded by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to implement a project titled- EU support to strengthening reconciliation and reintegration of former armed non-state combatants and low risk associates in Maiduguri and Jere.

The following are the available positions

Programme Coordinator

He or she must be an experienced peace-building and conflict resolution for at least 5 years in Borno State; the context of the project and part of which must be at a managerial level. The successful candidate must be able to interpret. The candidate must have a bachelors’ degree. The possession of a Masters’ Degree shall be an advantage.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision and support to the mobile protection teams, including:
  • Support to scheduling of, and participation in, monitoring field missions;
  • Regular review of data collected by the teams, and reporting systems;
  • Development of individual work plans and professional development plans for staff;
  • Regular review and follow up of case referrals and other associated action points for monitoring; and, Support mobile teams’ access by meeting with relevant stakeholders and local authorities as required.
  • Monitor and report on Mental Health and livelihood trends from the field on a regular basis.
  • Develop and deliver trainings for staff on protection monitoring and implementation of small-scale projects that contribute to the outcomes for communities in alignment with their priorities.
  • Ensure effective planning of the work, in order to meet goals for protection monitoring, implementation of small-scale projects and community-based support for persons with specific needs; oversee implementation of this work and ensure quality standards are met either through direct supervision or the appropriate escalation of issues to the Chief Executive Officer and the Partner Focal Points.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other NNGO, INGO, UNDP, UNHCR, government authorities, and other key stakeholders to ensure active coordination, collaboration, and information dissemination.

Programme Officer

Educational Requirement

  • B.Sc. in Sociology or its equivalent
  • 3 years working in the peace building sector in the North East Nigeria

Job Description

  • Maintain strict adherence to relevant donor policies and procedures.
  • Support technical aspects of the peacebuilding and conflict management program by assisting with the development of activities/agendas/curricula as appropriate.
  • Facilitate community meetings, events, and training as required.
  • Ensure implementation of activities is on time, target and budget
  • In collaboration with M&E staff, coordinate the implementation of relevant surveys, needs assessments, data and information collection for on-going monitoring
  • Establish and maintain effective program reporting and monitoring and evaluation systems (to track, analyze and report on results) for both internal and external use
  • Integrated community approaches, protection mainstreaming, gender sensitivity and Do No Harm Principles, capacity building into all activities as appropriate’
  • Prepare narrative report every activity(ies) conducted
  • Submit all narrative report to the Program Coordinator and Finance unit on or before last the day of the month
  • Other duties as assigned

MEAL Officer

Educational Requirements

  • B.Sc. or HND in Statistics or any other related field of study.
  • He or she must be conversant with the language and systems related to Monitoring evaluation and learning area of responsibility in project Management.
  • 3 years working in the peace building sector in the North East Nigeria

Job Description M and E Officer

  • Lead project team in the development and implementation of an M&E system and oversee routine program monitoring activities. Ensure the quality and relevance of the project’s monitoring and evaluation design.
  • Utilize the Collaborative, Learning and Adapting Approach to continually assess project progress and inform project management decision-making.
  • Provide support to performance evaluation process in collaboration with USAID and the independent evaluation team.
  • Ensure the quality of M&E related data to be collected throughout the program implementation.
  • Participate in the preparation and facilitation of informational meetings with World Education’s partners.
  • Document results of the M & E system and produce periodic reports required by World Education and donor agencies.
  • Assist the various program teams in data analysis.

Logistics Officer

This position requires the candidate to possess a Degree or HND in Business Admin/Management or Purchasing and supplies. An experience 2 years work in the Humanitarian Sector and Skill in monitoring price movement shall be an Advantage.

Job Descriptions

  • Logistic officers are responsible for maintaining all the logistic or transportation related records in any organization.
  • They must be well versed with the products that their organization deals with.
  • They must be accurate in terms of data and record management and they should also have good negotiation skills to fetch the best transportation charges for their organization.
  • The stocking of the product is also managed by the logistic officers.
  • Logistic officers are also responsible for packaging the products during the transit to secure the products from any kind of damage.
  • They must know to use and handle the machines that are used in the packing and stocking of the materials.
  • The Warehouse maintenance is also the responsibility of the logistic officers and they have to ensure the proper management of the warehouse.
  • The mode and method of the product transportation is also decided by the logistic officers and they have to implement best in class practices for the transportation of the material.
  • All the technical knowledge has to be given to the field officers by the logistic professionals.
  • They also design the new logistic guidelines for the organization.

Case Worker

Educational Requirements

  • ND in social work/services or BSc in Sociology
  • 3 years working in the peace building sector in the North East Nigeria
  • Certificate of Participation in MHPSS training.
  • Capacity in case management process

Job Description

  • Filing and maintaining case history reports
  • Interviewing clients to assess their situational needs
  • Determining which services and assistance are necessary
  • Serving as a liaison between the client and social, financial, health and legal services
  • Developing a plan of action to improve the client’s well-being
  • Planning regular follow-ups to assess progress and additional needs
  • Reviewing and modifying plans as circumstances change for the individual

Finance Officer

Educational Requirements

  • Degree or HND in Accountancy or Masters in Business Administration
  • Member of ICAN or ANAN or ACCA is an added advantage

Job Description

  • Prepare project contract documents (subcontracts, sub-agreements, purchase orders, and Memoranda of Understanding) as requested;
  • Manage procurement process, serving as headquarters point person for field.
  • Liaise with field office staff, including HR and Operations staff, on various operational, technical and program areas as well as project-related personnel issues.

Livelihood Officer

Educational Requirements

  • Degree or HND in Accountancy or Business Administration or in other related fields.
  • 3 years’ experience in the livelihood sector.

`Job Description

  • Lead in group formation, livelihoods and financial literacy training at group level
  • Facilitate training on core VSLA modules for groups formed including setting up groups as platform for delivery of livelihood and financial literacy training
  • Develop best practices to improve overall program performance
  • Assist in planning and execution of program activities in timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in conducting program reviews and prepare reports for management.
  • Collect data on a regular basis to measure achievement against the performance indicators.
  • Check data quality with partners.
